The Dales Livestock Marquee

Sheep Shearing Demonstration
Sheep Shearing Demonstration

In the livestock marquee we have a selection of farm animals, typical of the animals found on dales farms.

The livestock includes dairy cows and calves, Wensleydale and Jacob sheep, a selection of sheep breeds commonly seen in the dales, piglets and pheasant chicks.

Twice during the day Sarah Kalkowski will give a talk about the animals and their function and place in local agriculture, drawing on her experience showing school parties and the general public round Hazel Brow Farm in Swaledale. A local shearing contractor will demonstrate the art of sheep shearing each day.
