The Richard Whiteley Pavilion hosts
"SPEAKERS CORNER"
and the bandstand. It is equipped with chairs for weary feet, and is used
throughout the day for demonstrations and entertaining talks between listening
to the delightful music of Brass and Jazz Bands.

Gervaise Phinn is hugely entertaining with his anecdotes of "what kids
say" gleaned from his career as a teacher and schools inspector. His
experiences led to his hugely successful "The Other Side of the Dale" and
subsequent series. After his talk he will sign copies of his books. |
